Confluence Masterclass

A confluence location is a small area you can explain before price gets there. Begin with the most relevant structure: a prior reaction zone, a session extreme or a confirmed swing. Then ask whether a consistently measured pullback places another reference nearby.

Keep the hierarchy clear. The structure gives the idea context; a Fibonacci measurement may refine where you observe it. A cluster of nearby lines is not automatically significant, especially if you adjusted the anchors or added tools after the bounce.

Decide how wide the zone can be and where acceptance beyond it invalidates the thesis. Avoid treating “near” as an unlimited distance. Check the next opposing reference before waiting for a trigger: a well-defined location can still offer insufficient room for your exit plan.

Worked example

A hypothetical upswing from 100 to 120 has a 61.8–65% pullback region at 107.00–107.64. A previously marked support zone at 107–108 overlaps it. That creates an observation area, not an entry. If price trades straight through and holds below the zone, the original support-hold idea has failed.

Try it in replay

Choose a swing before revealing the pullback. Mark one structural zone and the measured retracement. Write both a reaction you would need and a condition that cancels the idea.

Check your reasoning

The plan should remain understandable if the Fibonacci lines are hidden. If the only reason is that a line happened to touch the eventual low, you have not built a prospective location.
